Meet Alicia Haff

In 2012, I started ETC with my partner Heather Garcia. Our vision was to help employers navigate compliance issues that could cause them extensive fines and penalties. Of course, the New Affordable Care Act was at the top of our list. AT ETC, I have oversight of ACA compliance interpretations and Manage the ETC Web-Based system.

I manage the TX Schools as well as Full Tracking clients. I also provide legal consulting through the Haff & Raggio Law office, guiding clients who have received penalty letters.

Prior to ETC, I worked for 13 years litigating employer, insurance and commercial disputes. I have spent my career guiding employers through Governmental audits, including Wage and Overtime, Health & Welfare Benefits, I-9s and EEOC. I have maintained my TX General Lines Insurance license since 2007 and achieved my Certified Health Care Specialist designation. I am also certified as a Patient Protection and ACA Professional.

Outside of The ETC Companies, I have 4 amazing children, 2 who live in Toronto, one who attends TX A&M and the other is a sophomore in high school. I’m married to Corey, who is a Canadian Citizen. So, we usually (COVID aside) winter in San Antonio, TX and spend a cooler summer with our two puppies (Austin and Hunter) in Toronto, Canada.

Meet Heather Garcia

In 2012, my partner Alicia Haff and I started ETC as a Business Compliance Company, quickly jumping into the new world of ACA. The mission for our company was to help employers remain compliant in all areas of business, so they can invest capital in their company, rather than government mandated fees and fines.

I manage the Sales and Marketing side of the business, but my role at ETC adapts weekly. Depending on the situation, I can be one of the leaders or one of the doers!! In non-Covid times, I travel the US, speaking on both ACA and other best practices.

Prior to ETC, I spent 16 years in the Outsourcing Business working at ADP, consulting with clients to evaluate the best source of payroll services and diminishing their tax risks. My career evolved into a Business Efficiency consultant, helping to implement complete outsourcing solutions for payroll, workers’ comp, and health & welfare.

In my off time, I’ve coached club volleyball for 15 years, prior to my own kids playing sports. I’ve been married to Israel (Izzy) for 21 years and have two beautiful teenagers. Cody is a Senior at Smithson Valley HS and Misty is a 6th grader at Spring Branch MS. We have 4 dogs and 1 cat who we love. We enjoy the beach, fishing and fixing up our new yard.

Meet Sydney Lozano

I initially joined ETC in 2016 as a part-time employee responsible for data entry tasks and basic data processing. In 2020, I transitioned to a full-time role on the School team. Currently, I am a senior data analyst, managing data processing for nearly 400 schools! My responsibilities include interpreting and processing all school-related data, building queries, and addressing any processing issues that arise.

In my free time, I enjoy crafting, baking, and spending time outdoors. I love crocheting, embroidering, sculpting, painting, and most recently, making stained glass! I thoroughly enjoy learning new skills and taking on various DIY projects whenever possible. If I’m not being creative, you can find me spending time with my family.

Meet Jana Siegle

I joined the ETC Team in late 2022 bringing the experience gathered from decades of life. I restarted my career as a contractor at the Johnson Space Center working on the International Space Station program. I worked on projects incorporating software testing, user experience, and training users on software tools. From there my journey continued over the next two decades at Technological Dot Com startup scene in Austin, TX putting skills honed from the past as a paper pusher extraordinaire, acting as a liaison between divisions, administrative and management and technical skills to good use. I went back to university and earned my Bachelor of Science degree in front and back-end web platform development in 2016, graduating as valedictorian of my class.

As happens, life always moves us onward in ways unexpected and in 2018 I once again found myself entering a new realm that encompassed the world of federal contracting. Through this time, hard work, and commitment I earned the position of Vice President and Director of Human Resources. A position conquered through my vast experiences and expertise at adaptability, user perspective, management, logical-thinking, empathy, research, and coordination.

Outside of work, I have my wonderful hubster, family and yes, I love video games!

Meet Lisa Davis

I have had many roles in the last 8 years with ETC: Texas Schools Sales and Support; Business Sales; Operations and finally Account Executive. I currently help our ACA clients with all aspects of the reporting process, working with both Reporting Only and Full Tracking clients.  I am certified as a General Lines Agent and work with brokers around the state.

Previously I worked as a Pricing Analyst and Workflow Coordinator at Texas Medicaid & Health Partnership (Accenture). In these roles, I helped authenticate the costs per service for Medicaid providers, working with the Texas Department of Medicaid and following stringent State and Federal guidelines.

Both of my daughters are away at college, so outside of work I love to hike or do yoga in the Appalachian Mountains. I am very active in my church, working to get the youth interested in Sunday service again.  One of my greatest passions, however, is writing.  I have written several short stories, and a bible study, “Journey to Joy” and have co-authored an e-book called “76 Ways to Get More Happy”, which is available on Amazon Kindle.

Meet Jeremy Brammer

I was hired at ETC to program PHP and rhyme creation. “PHP” may sound like a dangerous narcotic, but it is actually the programming language that runs The ETC V2 Portal/System. I will be responsible for maintaining the support framework/technology as well as developing eligibility improvements for the V2 portal.

Prior to ETC, I was a PHP developer for a company that developed learning software. Our team wrote software used by colleges to post content like homework and exams. The company was acquired last year by another, and the project was ended, so now I’m on to new and interesting challenges. I am happy to be here at ETC, and I hope to make a positive impact through my work.

I work remotely from a rural town in Missouri, and live with my two cats in relative isolation, thanks to the pandemic. I think I have too many hobbies and interests to list, but I love science and technology, and pretty much anything nerdy. The cost of living here is so cheap, so one of my hobbies is buying real estate, and I’m slowly buying up my town!

Meet Kendra Stegemann

I started with ETC in 2015, as the Director of IT, using my 25+ years of IT Management experience to evolve the ETC platforms. My expertise as a DBA has allowed me to take ETC’s proprietary system to new levels. I manage a group of Data Specialist’s and Developers to meet the needs of our clients. I oversee the security of internal operational platforms as well as ensure stable operation and performance of all our computer systems, applications and networks.

I love working with my teams & our leadership team developing cutting edge technology for us at ETC. I am so proud to be part of a company that appreciates their employees & their clients and works hard every day for both.

Outside of ETC, I coached club volleyball for 20+ years. I have 3 beautiful daughters, 3 awesome sons-in-law and a fabulous grandson. I love to watch murder mysteries, playing games on my IPAD and did I mention my grandson, entertaining my fabulous grandson! I tell my girls all the time, had I known being a Grandma would be so much fun, I would have done that first!!

Meet Sheila Roan

Joining ETC in 2020 as a Data Analyst has given me the opportunity to be in an environment that promotes flexibility and encourages a collaborative approach for its team members while going above and beyond for clients navigating ACA benefits and payroll.

In prior years I worked in the gaming industry as an Account Manager for a talented sales team while working cross-departmentally with others in product development, production, legal, compliance, accounting, and field service teams. I’ve also had a great time being a jack-of-all-trades from working with pilots and flight simulators to being a flight attendant.

When not working I prioritize time with our son, Brennan and my family and close friends. We are always on the go! I have 2 mini Australian Shepherds that are my littlest loves. I love to craft and stay busy with plenty of projects like crocheting, sewing, and gardening. I also participate as part of a BBQ Cookoff Team and Buyers Group that volunteers for the Austin Rodeo, participates in Austin Rodeo’s Youth Auction and supports local kid’s scholarship funds. But at the moment I am most excited to build our dream home after relocating to New Braunfels, Texas

Meet Maricia Meyer

I joined ETC part-time in 2014, handling HR projects. Five years later I lead the HR function of ETC Companies, assisting employers with both federal and state employment regulatory requirements. As an integral part of the Executive Team, I continue to create new and robust client service offerings.

Prior to ETC, I attained a Healthcare Admin Degree from TX State University. I have 15+ years of practical and operational HR experience, including work in HR at a Fortune 100 company, Tesoro, where I created and managed the College Recruitment and Internship Program. Skilled in statutory requirements and HR rules, I provide consultation and guidance to clients on handbooks, ERISA wrap documents, and reviewing on-boarding materials and legally required notices among other HR compliance areas. “Always be looking for more efficient ways to manage a situation.”

Outside work, I am a mom to two teenage boys and a new puppy. I enjoy spending time with family and reading, when I am not checking off international travel destinations from my bucket list. Recent adventures include Iceland, a Mediterranean Cruise, British Isles Cruise and the Netherlands. Next on the list is a cruise to Scandinavia and Northern Russia next summer and Morocco in the fall, fingers crossed!

Meet Jeff McMillan

I started working with ETC Companies in 2016 as a printing consultant to find the most efficient and effective way of printing and mailing 1095 forms for all their ACA clients. I officially joined the team in 2019 and now oversee all the printing and mailing at SJ&C Printing, which is a sister company within ETC Companies.

Before joining the team in 2019, I worked for Toshiba Business Solutions for 20+ years, helping companies of all sizes with their printing and workflow needs. I’ve always taken a consultative approach and I think that has blessed me with the success that I have had. Now at SJ&C I get to continue my passion of helping clients save money and free up employee time by assisting in the printing and mailing of statements, invoices, and other types of transactional printing.

When I’m not at work, I love spending time with my family. I have three wonderful ladies in my life who make me feel like the luckiest man in the world! I’m also a huge outdoorsman! If it has fins, fur, or feathers there is a pretty good bet that I’ll be chasing it at some point in the year. Over the last four years I have served as the Youth Director for the Texas Dove Hunters Association as I also love giving back to the kids and introducing them to the outdoors.

Meet Stephen Carter

I joined ETC in September of 2016. My initial role was that of support for Pete, our lead Software Developer, Kendra, our do-all head of IT, as well as general desktop support for the main office and those working remote.

Before I joined ETC, I was finishing up school as well as working in a student role with a separate company in SA. I was able to form a solid work relationship with Pete and Kendra through this role and am pleased I am able to continue working in the same environment.

Currently my focus is on our automated IRS filing system, as well as some hopefully innovative and helpful products that will continue to push us forward as a company. I get a lot of satisfaction knowing that what we work on has hopefully taken some of the headaches and worries away from our clients as we continue to create our awesome future here at ETC.

When I’m not working, I’m usually found mountain biking or cooking something new and unusual with my girlfriend Hannah, or when times are normal, meeting friends for a drink at a local brewery. I live in Knoxville, TN and wouldn’t trade it for anything. Being able to be in the city in one minute and feel as if you have transported to the mountains in another is an experience unique to us.

Meet Pete Morgan

I started consulting with ETC in November of 2015 and joined as a full-time employee in September of 2016. The leadership at ETC is driven. Their investment in their software systems and in their employees is what has allowed them to grow so quickly in the marketplace and their consideration and compassion for others is what really sets them apart.

I am currently running the development department for the ETCLite and simpleDocs family of products. We write and support the systems that process all of our clients’ data files into our system for analysis and filing.

Outside of work I am married and have five children, aged three through thirteen. We live in scenic East Tennessee, which affords us a lot of fun opportunities outside. Working for ETC remotely has allowed me to really balance work and home and has given me the opportunity to see a lot of my children’s activities that I would have otherwise missed.

I am an avid guitar player and occasionally play at our church, where I am active on the council. We have a backyard egg farm; we are up to 150 chickens! I love all books by Stephen King, Joe Hill, or either Herbert; any and every sci-fi movie; and religious horror movies. Read the Dark Tower series and watch A Dark Song, they’ll change your life!

Meet Greg Chaffins

I started working with ETC in July 2018 as a System Developer. They have been excellent to work with, allowing me to accomplish my projects while providing the needed resources to do it in the most expedient way possible. Being a long-time system developer, I have had the pleasure to work with a lot of companies over the years, and ETC ranks up there with the absolute best of them.

Before ETC I worked on a Watson Research Lab project for a well-known insurance company, and also worked with physicists and scientists pushing the bounds of practical radioactive particle detection. I have worked on projects with a Defense Contractor missile tracking and credit card processing, utilizing our own client server architecture.

When I am not lost in the code for ETC, I can be found spending time with my wife and teenage son, often getting outside to explore the wonderous world we live in or staying in to have a challenging video game match. And yes, I even win sometimes. I also enjoy writing apps for the Apple App store in my spare time, where I have had a lot of great feedback from vision impaired users that enjoy playing one of my adventure games. I love it when that happens, after all, life is an amazing adventure that we all share.

Meet Kari Frederick

I joined ETC five years ago, in a part-time capacity, to help pay for my son’s college expenses. My son has since graduated and there is no way I want to leave my part-time job that I adore. I do scheduling for Alicia Haff and sometimes others within the company. Though my role is small, I thrive on being able to help customers whenever I can.

During the day, I am the Director of Child Nutrition for a school district in the D/FW area of Texas. I have a degree in Scientific Nutrition from Texas A&M University and a MBA from Texas Women’s University. I have been in the business of feeding school children for 13 years. In that capacity and with ETC, I have had the pleasure of working with the most amazing people and forming life-long friendships.

Outside of work, I love to work in the yard, play with my fur babies, and spend time with my husband and son (which usually involves sports). I also enjoy shopping for unusual treasures and traveling. Gig Em Ags.

Meet Shelley Valdez

I joined the ETC Team in the fall of 2014. The energy of Heather and Alicia drew me to the opportunity. I share their mission and motto of Knowledge is Power. Helping to keep employers in compliance while educating on the WHY.

ACA was new and opportunity to make a difference for General Line Agents and their employer clients was endless. I like working with people. I like talking and LISTENING to people; learning what their compliance needs are and how ETC Companies can make their work life a bit easier. I love the challenge of finding the opportunity for win win. I enjoy speaking with clients and referral partners – as their go to for compliance assistance.

Thankful to say that I have worked in many areas of THE ETC Companies. It allows me to be versatile and provide the best customer service possible. I’m known for taking photos of our adventures, including crazy selfies and bringing laughs in an industry with lots of rules. My family grew when I joined ETC.

Meet Elizabeth Raggio

I joined ETC in August 2016 as Director of Compliance, providing guidance to employers and employee benefit brokers related to federal and state laws impacting group health administration.

Today, I am primarily focused on assisting Applicable Large Employers (ALEs) with their specific ACA obligations and representing them before the IRS when they receive penalty letters (Letters 226J, 5699, 5005-A, and 972CG).

The relationship between ETC Companies and my law firm, Haff & Raggio, PLLC, has allowed us to successfully serve more than 200 ALEs with savings of almost $100 million in penalties to date.

Prior to ETC, I worked in healthcare law and insurance positions, including serving as the Compliance Officer for the Employee Benefits practice of Frost Insurance. I represented Texas healthcare providers before state and federal agencies as an Associate Attorney at Garlo Ward, P.C., and served as Senior Legislative Analyst for Xerox Corporation related to its Texas Medicaid claims processing contract.

Meet Dave Bennett

I started with ETC in January of 2019 as an entry-level Java programmer. They have really given me an opportunity to thrive in an environment that promotes success and growth through their focus on education and responsibility.

I have learned a lot in my time here. I am currently assisting other developers with new features and enhancements to our full-tracking products, and I already have my own project: litlCRM, our in-house customer relationship management system.

Prior to working at ETC, I was a mechanic for ten years, went through basic law enforcement training, ran a garage for AT&T, and was an installer for Spectrum. I never found satisfaction and joy through those jobs to the degree that I have felt working as a programmer for ETC. I feel truly appreciated here.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and my dog Enzo at the lake, hiking, and fishing. I also enjoy drag racing, singing in the choir at church, gardening, and spending time at the range.
